Science Hits the Streets: Soapbox Science Returns to Winnipeg 2025 at The Forks Skate Park, Winnipeg

Soapbox Science Winnipeg is back for another exciting year! On Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Skate Park at The Forks will once again become a stage for discovery, dialogue, and diversity in science.
Following the success of last year’s event, which drew over 250 attendees, the 2025 edition promises to be even more engaging. Scientists will step onto soapboxes, not into lecture halls, to share their research directly with the public, creating a dynamic and informal space where science meets everyday conversation.
This year’s event proudly continues its mission to spotlight the work of women and nonbinary scientists in Winnipeg. By creating space for diverse voices in a lively public setting, Soapbox Science empowers scientists to connect with the community and redefine what science looks like in everyday life.
Twelve researchers from diverse fields, including AI, robotics, medicine, genetics, and more, will deliver accessible, engaging talks, each enriched with interactive props and live demonstrations designed to bring complex topics to life for all ages.
Whether you are a science enthusiast, a curious passerby, or a family looking for a fun and educational outing, Soapbox Science Winnipeg 2025 invites you to stop, listen, and be inspired.

By showcasing the groundbreaking work of women and nonbinary scientists and featuring hands-on interactive elements, we make science approachable and exciting for all. We look forward to seeing how this year’s demonstrations will inspire meaningful conversations and contribute to building a more diverse and innovative scientific community.
Nisha Ajmani says Soapbox Science is such a brilliant initiative — it creates a space where people can share their work directly with the public, breaking down barriers and stereotypes in STEM. I love how it makes science accessible and exciting for people of all ages, while celebrating the voices of women and non-binary scientists. The energy, curiosity, and engagement from the crowd are always incredible!”
